So, I've been putting this off because I wasn't sure if I was actually going to manage it or not. I will be running the Stirling half marathon on April 29 to raise money for charity.

I know it's only a half marathon and not the big bad version, but as soon as I started training I realised what years of no strenuous exercise actually does to your lungs and body. Turns out I have a self-diagnosed condition known as oldmankneepainitis. Not particularly fun to run on.

Nevertheless, I signed up about a month ago and I'm going to do this. With my dad running by my side I will make it to the end. I can't promise a good finishing time but I will make it to the end.

I'm fundraising for an incredible cause set up in tragic circumstances by an incredible woman. Despite also being from Cheltenhamshire, it was a chance meeting in a wee town on the west coast of Scotland that led to me and Natalia's paths crossing.

She is undoubtedly one of the most inspirational people I have ever met. Not only has she kept her daughter's memory alive, she has taken on huge physical challenges and raised more than £200,000 for charity.

If you could spare me anything towards my total, I would be so grateful. All the money will go straight to Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal, which supports Bristol Children's Hospital which cared for Elizabeth before her passing and hundreds of other poorly children who never got to reach adulthood as they should have.
