I am incredibly privileged to work as a consultant in pre-hospital medicine on London's Air Ambulance.  Every day I see the massive difference it can make to people on the worst day of their lives.  I have both personal and professional reasons to be passionate about improving survival from trauma and London's Air Ambulance is leading the way.

I am a decidedly average swimmer with a strong dislike of cold water and a significant phobia of jellyfish.  I therefore have no qualms asking for sponsorship money for such a good cause as no-one can be in any doubt that not only will I be on my physical and mental limits but that I will also be constantly stuck somewhere between misery and abject terror.

Please note there is a chance I fail at the formal qualifying 2 hr sea swim  required to be allowed to attempt the challenge- if this happens I will pretend to be disappointed but will wholeheartedly support the rest of the team and your money will be going to an amazing charity.
