The Herts Air Ambulance (part of the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust) is a free, life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service for critically ill or injured people in Essex, Herts & surrounding areas. It costs in the region of £500k a month to cover all charitable costs and aircraft operations.

Story

I am trekking Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2015, I am fundraising for the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust. They carry out life saving work within the local community, it is a voluntary service so without donations and peoples support they couldn't make the difference to the people that need them most. Each flight usually costs around £2700.

The trek is an 7 day climb, 5 days up, 2 days down along the Marangu route, the summit is at 5895m (19,335ft) the journey will take us along the Tanzanian plains, through rain forest, up above the trees to a desolate moonscape and the snow fields beyond towards the summit, the temperatures could range from +30 at the bottom to -30 at the top. The small matter of altitude sickness also awaits.....

I will be completing a number of other challenges and fundraising events between now and September, I will keep you informed so you can keep up to date/laugh at my progress and preparation.

Any donation big or small is appreciated and it all goes a long way towards me reaching my goal. Thank you all in advance for your support!

Ben :-)
