Sheffield to Leeds walk · 27 October 2017

1 in 125 babies are born with CHD. CHSF supports Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, it's patients and their families. We fund lifesaving equipment, parent accommodation, staff training, and a family support service. 100% donor-funded, we can only do this with your help. Empowered lives, because of you.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page..

Back in 2014 while my wife Steph was pregnant with our son, George, he was diagnosed with Fetal Supraventricular Tachycardia and we were referred to the team at the Leeds General Infirmary. The couple of months that followed were the most emotionally challenging of our lives, much worse for Steph as she was admitted as an in-patient to a hospital miles from home with me flitting between Sheffield and Leeds daily amidst a very uncertain prognosis for our unborn child. The support we received from all involved with the Children's Heart Surgery Fund from the day of our first appointment right up until George's final discharge from treatment just before his second birthday was fantastic, extending way beyond tea and sympathy and a pillow for my head in troubling times. The work they do for parents and children across Yorkshire and further afield is beyond vital.  As a family, our debt is immeasurable.

So, on Friday the 27th October 2017, myself and my good pals of twenty odd years Simon Jenkins and Paul Thompson will be setting off from Beautiful Sunny [probably still be dark, like] Downtown Bramall Lane early doors to walk the thirty odd miles to Elland Road to see Sheffield United turn Leeds over that evening . We can't promise we won't stop for a pie and a pint or a swift piss along the way but we intend to make it in good time for the 8PM kick-off. Big shout out to Sky Sports for ruining football as we know it but for giving us an extra fifteen minute's grace with the KO time on this occasion. Please give whatever you can to support our humble efforts for this worthy cause.
