This year got off to a really sad start for my family as we lost my beloved Grandfather, Bopf. He passed away on 21st January in Blackpool Hospital. I was incredibly close to Bopf and think about him every day.

The staff at Blackpool Hospital cared for Bopf so well and they ensured his last few days were dignified and comfortable. They showed immense professionalism in dealing with the family, giving us regular information clearly and with compassion.

The Blue Skies Charity is the fundraising arm of Blackpool Hospital. They have told me that all the money I raise will go directly to Ward 23, which was where Bopf passed away. I am keen to try and raise as much money as possible for this wonderful cause.

Bopf loved sport and I know he will be right behind my efforts both in training and on the day! I did the run in 2:02:49 last year and am determined to get close to that this time around. Raising money for Blue Skies and running it in Bopf's memory will provide me with the motivation I need.

I am grateful for any support you are able to give. I miss Bopf massively and want to do him proud. x
