Amantani - The Wasa Challenge · 7 August 2011 ·

An award-winning organisation that defends the rights of indigenous Quechua young people and artisans in the Andes of Peru.

Story

I have set myself up with not one, but two challenges!

1. A hike up Ben Nevis carrying a child on my back.....have no fear no actual child will be harmed during this or even put up with my conversational/physical weakness. I will carry their weight in sand before building a sand castle at the top of the mountain.

2.  I will complete the first ever half marathon around grafham water (considering i can barely move from my obviously incredibly stressful office desk, this challenge will be monumental)

I hate running.

The rogues resposible for getting me into this are good friends who run this charity which is close to our hearts.

I was lucky enough to have the privilege of fantastic schooling and benefit from all the advantages this gave, many children around the world are not.

The very worth cause:

Amantani's intercultural boarding schools near Cusco, Peru, have transformed the lives of 64 Quechua children who previously walked up to 8 hours daily to get to and from school. Many of them escape terrible conditions at home. I am hoping to raise enough money to keep a girl in one of Amantani's boarding schools for a year!!
