A really big thank you to all of those of you who have donated generously for the OWR project. I know it's been a busy few months for sponsorship, but if you can spare a pound or five, I'd really appreciate it.
Good news is, now that we have planned the cycle route (rather than just tapped it into google), it's looking more like 230 miles. And as I found out on this weekend's training ride to Brighton, my polka dot bike is not quite up to the standard of my co-riders. Apparently, that means I'll be putting in 30% extra effort. On that basis, I've put my fundraising target up by 30% and hope you can help me reach it. Olly and the team of 45 riders would really appreciate your support.
Start: Thursday 13th May 2010, . 230 mile cycling adventure to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Finish: Sunday 16th May 2010, Vauxhall.
Simply put, the OWR Project is a charity bike ride from Bolton to
The core of the project and key reason for both its creation and ongoing support is a certain Oliver William Richards.
Olly has been set an unimaginably tough day-in, day-out battle against bone cancer. The challenge is significant but so is the resolve of the loveable lad from . His longstanding girlfriend Catherine Davies has given unfaltering support from day one.
The head-on approach and positive attitude he has unwaveringly shown is a real credit to him. He has inspired friends, family and colleagues to band together to set themselves a challenge of their own. Hence the birth of the OWR Project.
As a group it is difficult to play a really direct role in what is ultimately Olly’s own personal fight. However, Olly credits Macmillan Cancer Care with giving him the best possible platform to fight this disease and we can ensure that they continue to have the funding to assist not only Olly but also continue their priceless work helping many thousands of individuals, both young and old, during similar truly testing times.
The concept is clear, the reasoning heart-felt. Check out www.nochainnogain.org.uk
Our success is dependent on your support... Please give generously.
Also, if you know of anybody who could donate / lend spare bicycle parts / pumps etc for the event, please let me know.
Thanks so much for your support
