Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So, what am I doing, for whom am I doing it and why am I contacting you?
What?
The Hellrunner, a 12 mile trail run, described as nature at its toughest, with steep hills (the "Hills of Hell"), water-filled trenches (the "Bogs of Doom") and varying underfoot conditions. This year's event takes place on Sunday 15th November at Longmoor Military Training Camp near Borden in Hampshire. Only the finish brings redemption, I'm told. If it sounds like a walk in the park, watch the video on the official website (http://www.hellrunner.co.uk/index.htm) and you'll begin to understand how crazy this event actually is (and thus how utterly mental I really am).
For Whom?
As many of you know, for some time I've been supporting the work of a charity close to my home town in East Sussex, Leo House.
Leo House is a small registered charity established by a group called the Brighton Lions, who are members of a community service club which seeks to answer the needs that challenge communities in over 200 countries across the world (http://www.brighton-lions.org/).
Leo House itself has been set-up to help provide support to life-limited children, young people and their families living in the East Sussex area, in an effort to give these children and young people the best quality of life for as long as practically possible. Do take a look at their website - http://www.leohouse.org.uk/ - if you’re interested in knowing more.
Why you?
You people are my family, friends and colleagues, people who know that if I commit to a particular cause, I do so because I want to make a difference. I've personally been very touched by the stories of both staff at and families supported by Leo House. I'm taking part in this event and seeking your support because I believe that, together, even with the smallest of donations, we can each contribute in some small way to improving the lives of these children, young people and their families.
Despite my pleas, I don't want you to feel pressured into making a donation and would like to thank you again for simply taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and reading this message.
