Twenty four year 10 boys from Berkhamsted Boys School are running 5km/10km charity Santa Run in London's Victoria Park on Sunday 2nd December 2018 in support of their good friend Tom.
Tom aged 14 was recently diagnosed with a malignant bone tumour. He is currently receiving chemotherapy at UCLH. Tom and his family are supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) who provide specialist nurses and youth support coordinators; equipment; tutors and school materials for adolescents with cancer.
The TCT are the only UK charity dedicated to teenagers diagnosed with cancer. To be diagnosed with cancer at any age is devastating and teenagers face a unique set of challenges. The TCT have thus far built 28 world class specialist facilities across the UK which aim to provide a home away from home whilst teenagers receive treatment.
Tom has continued to attend school during the weeks he is out of hospital. Tom and his family greatly appreciate the work of the TCT. Tom's friends would like that support to continue and would like to raise as much money as possible to benefit Tom, his family and other adolescents needing treatment for cancer.
