After 4 years of regular blood tests, which ultimately led to a biopsy and confirmation that I had Prostate cancer, surgery was recommended as my best treatment option and this was carried out in July 2022.

As I live in the Shetland Isles and the operation was done in Aberdeen, I stayed in the CLAN Haven Accommodation facility in Aberdeen for just over a week following the surgery until I was able to return home to convalesce. 

The help and support that myself and my family received during that difficult time, and continue to receive, has been invaluable to us.

We are taking part in the Edinburgh half marathon in May with some friends to raise funds for Clan Cancer Support to help them continue providing much needed emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer across north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
