Story
I’m back again this year to do the Cardiff Half but this time with help from one of my sister, best friend Shirelle and her dad Wayne.
We are supporting and raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society, and for a heartbreaking reason. Unfortunately in March this year our dad was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s, at 65 he is no spring chicken but far too young to let this horrible illness get the better of him.
He has made some changes in his life with the amazing support from our step mum Debbie; he is doing great and feeling positive.
Alzheimer’s Story:
‘There are currently around 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK, with figures set to rise to over a million by 2021. Here in Wales there are over 45,000 people currently living with dementia. But dementia won’t win.
Until the day we find a cure, Alzheimer’s Society will be here for anyone affected by dementia – wherever they are, whatever they’re going through. Everything we do is informed and inspired by them.
We’re doing this for you dad, let’s turn this negative in to a positive and raise as much awareness and money as possible.
Keep doing you dad, love you! X
