Story

Hi, my name is Bethany and I’ve been an active member of the choir and Kairos music group St Marys in Horsham now for a number of years.  On my Birthday in February last year I lost a good friend in Paul Jinks, who was also a choir member.  Therefore this year I wanted to do something different.

On the 8 of February in the evening I am planning a special birthday party – I don’t want presents but I do want to raise money to help Cancer Research, St Catherine’s Hospice and The Stroke Association in honour of three special people who we have lost in recent times.  They meant such a lot to me and to lots to other people too and I wanted to do something positive in memory of Val Newman, Paul Jinks and Laura Skuce.  All three of them loved music and contributed so much to the music of the church and to the local community.  Therefore I am planning a musical concert, buffet and celebration in the Barn.

I’ve got some performers together but I’d like lots more performers please.  If you are a musician or entertainer please let me or my parents know.

I will be selling tickets for the evening at the back of church – they are £5 each and on the back of each one will be a request to bring a plate of food.  I have got the support of Liz, Godfrey and Laura’s sons for this concert and I want it to be a fitting tribute to their loved ones.

All profits from the evening will be split between Cancer Research, The Stroke Association and St Catherine’s Hospice. Please could you help me make this a fantastic evening that raises lots of money for these worthy causes and most importantly to keep alive the memory of these three fantastic people?

Even if you can’t come to the evening but would like to donate to these causes you can do so by donating through JustGiving.

It is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
