The four of us will be taking on the Wellchild 8 in 48 challenge, Trek the Lakes. The training is well under way and we are looking forward to heading up to the Lake District in September to complete the challenge.

Day one we’ll be tackling three of the peaks as a warm up to day two. This is Skiddaw, Helvellyn Lower Man and Helvellyn. It will take about 6 hours to complete.

The second day is the big one with twelve hours of walking going from peak to peak. We’ll complete the other five mountains heading back across the Scafell mountain range towards the finish line at Keswick!

Wellchild and their Team based in Cheltenham work tirelessly to help sick children with long term, on going illnesses return from hospital to continue their care at home, they do this by means of providing their very own wonderful nurses.

So often many of these children would remain hospitalised for months, sometimes even years. Wellchild nurses provide essential care and practical support for these children, which reduces the practical, emotional and financial impact on families.

Alongside of this, Wellchild have completed over 200 home and garden make overs for children with severe disabilities which has enabled them to have such a better quality of life.
