The Children's Bereavement Centre is a unique and special place where children aged between 3 and 18 and their families who are affected by terminal illness or death of someone close can access the support and guidance they need. Thank you for your support.

Story

In January I decided to run a half marathon. I’m not really sure why but I’m not getting any younger and after 4 kids, I suppose I needed a focus just for me

I have decided that whilst I am challenging myself I should use this opportunity to raise money for a charity that is close to my heart.

In September ‘18, Mike and I upped sticks and started a new chapter up north with a 4 year old Jack, a 2 year old Oliver and a 3 month old Daniel

The weekend we moved Mike’s mum took ill and was diagnosed with cancer. In a story that’s sadly all too familiar, Karen passed away 16 weeks later.

We muddled our way through the following year, finding ways to deal with our grief. In the time that follow Jack became more angry and lashing out. We had neglected to see that he was also navigating his own grief.

We were signposted to the Children’s Bereavement Centre who met with Jack. The took the time to talk to him about his grief and found ways for him to remember his beloved Nanny in an age appropriate and meaningful way and help him process the loss he had endured.

The centre also reached out to Mike. They enabled him to talk about his feelings and memories around his mum in a safe and caring environment.

Bereavement services are in higher demand than ever which means they are more reliant than ever on the generosity of those in the community.

How your donations will help the Children's Bereavement Centre

£10 could help fund a comfort bear which is given to all the children accessing support

£25 could pay for one play therapy session for a child

£50 could buy crafts and toys to help children express their grief

£100 could pay for memory books to help children remember someone who has died

£200 could pay for 8 sessions of one-to-one bereavement support for a child

Thank you for taking the time to be here and please help me support this wonderful charity so the Centre can continue to help the children, young people and their families that need them through one of most difficult times in their lives
