I wasn't going to do it! John was most certainly not going to do it but in the final hour I popped on the clobber and started the assent of 169 steps armed with an extra helmet, harness and gloves. John was already at the top just admiring the view and not expecting me to arrive to tell him the stairs we no longer in use and we needed to put our money where our mouth was!!
