Hello!
Firstly, thankyou so much for taking the time to visit my page!
My name's Billie, I'm 22, a recent Acting graduate and keen runner! I am absolutely thrilled to have gained a place in the London Marathon, it's something I have strived towards for a number of years now- I have no doubt it will be the biggest challenge, but I'm ready!
I'm not one to open up very easily, in fact for a 22 year old I am an expert at putting on that good old brave face, smiling and just "getting on with it" often ignoring that actually, I may not feel ok. I have dealt with severe homesickness, lack of direction, self deprecation and the worst- feeling sad when everything else around me was going wonderfully. I know there will be lots of people who read this that can understand some if not all of the above, or can relate to some of those feelings in very similar ways. Well why don't we all just be more open about how we feel? Surely being open lifts a huge weight off our shoulders? Well more often than not, it's harder for people than that, they feel alone and don't know how to do that or where to reach out to...
So why am I running and raising donations for MIND?
Because mind are a charity that listen, that advise and are there to just talk and assure you that actually you aren't alone, there are thousands of people who aren't feeling "ok" all of the time, what ever your circumstance.
There's lots of times I (and others around me) would have benefitted from this charity, but didn't know enough about them.
If doing this Marathon raises awareness, allows people to realise they aren't alone, or even just google this incredible organisation, then my job is done!
Mental health in all societies needs to be recognised and responded too with the most respect and seriousness.
Any donation, however big or small is appreciated more than I can say.
Love Billie XXX
