We raise money to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Story

Hi All,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page (and hopefully thank you for your donation!) I am running the Virgin London Marathon 2019 for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

My Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer of the esophagus  back in April 2016. Due to the cancer being found at a late stage, he was given roughly 11 months to live and sadly passed away on the morning of the 20th of February 2017.

After Dad's diagnosis he made the decision to document his cancer journey every Monday on the BBC Radio 4 Eddie Mair PM show. He did this until exactly 1 week before he passed away. But when documenting his cancer treatment there was always one common theme - how amazing The Royal Marsden hospital was. Me, my family and Dad's friends all experienced this first hand. Not only the cutting edge clinical trials and extremely high standard of care provided to patients but also the experienced, attentive and knowledgeable staff - who looked after Dad right until the end of his cancer journey, and then subsequently offering help and support to the family even after his passing.

Every donation made will go such a long way in helping raise money for the amazing work the The Royal Marsden do. From funding state-of-the-art equipment to enabling further research and subsequently smarter and more effective cancer treatments.

In the words of Dad himself:

“I’m absolutely convinced that the more we talk about cancer – both to our families, friends and loved ones – the better it is for all concerned,”
