We are a team of three and we will be hosting an all-day event at easyGym in Birmingham (Corporation St, Birmingham B2 4RN) on Wednesday 21^st March to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. There will be a number of challenges to take part in throughout the day with prizes to be won. Come along and support us if you can!

At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, the mission is to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to those who use the hospital’s services, offering them the best experience possible.

We have chosen to support the Critical Journeys Appeal. KIDS/NTS is a mobile intensive care unit (contained within an ambulance). KIDS provides emergency specialist transport for critically ill children across the region.

They transport premature and the most fragile babies to the right department so they can care for their specialist requirements. The service makes sure that more than 2,000 new-born, small babies and children requiring intensive care and emergency treatment are transferred to the right place, at the right time for the right treatment.

This service also helps find beds for expectant mothers who need to be transferred from their local hospital to another, more specialised hospital in order to provide the appropriate care required for them and/or their baby.

What are we fundraising for?

• Birmingham Children’s Hospital has a target of raising £2 million to equip a fleet of four Critical Care Ambulances with the latest life-saving medical equipment.
• As a result of recent technology and medical advances, most of the equipment used – whilst still able to do its job – is old and requires a lot of maintenance.
• Most of the equipment has not been designed to be used in an ambulance.
• The new equipment will mean all four ambulances can be deployed at the same time to meet the critical needs of all patients, no matter their age or illness, allowing the KIDS/NTS team to respond to any emergency – neonatal or paediatric.
• We therefore urgently need to raise the funds to ensure all four ambulance can offer a highly specialist intensive care services on the move.
