ReST is a group of local residents from Blewbury in south Oxfordshire. We have come together under the government's community sponsorship scheme to help a family forced to flee their home country settle and become part of our community. The family, most likely from Afghanistan or Syria, have already been recognised as refugees and given the right to live in the UK, but are now waiting for a permanent and stable place to restart their lives. We would like Blewbury to be that place. 

By collecting donations via our lead sponsor charity, Citizens UK, ReST can claim gift aid from the government. Each and every £ donated will help cover 'extra' expenses for when the family arrive (including, for example, translation services, counselling, trips out to familiarise the family with our area etc). It may also be that, if we can't find an affordable house to rent in the village, a small portion of our funds will be used to top up the family's monthly rent, although the majority of such costs will be covered by universal credit, to which any family with official refugee status is entitled.
