Extra incentive: If you donate and leave your name then I promise to write/draw you a personalised thank you card. You can even say what you'd like on it. Especially if it's unicorns.
Some time after Christmas I decided that not having to run miles and miles every week was just too much fun, and that I should, instead, start running miles and miles. For motivation I also signed up for the Southampton half marathon (mockingly called the 'Marafun'), and decided that if it looked like I'd be able to run the damn thing by a month beforehand, that I'd do my best to be raise money for the WEN as well.
To my own very great surprise that time has come and I am injury-free and shuffling up to 18KM/11 miles quite cheerfully. I even had to give up smoking in favour of breathing while pegging it up hills. Anyone who knew me four years ago as a more or less sedentary chimney should be so impressed that they immediately pony up a couple of quid from sheer shock. Others are welcome to donate for the sheer entertainment value of imagining me plodding along for 13 miles, motivated mostly by the prospect of ice cream at the finish line.
A much better reason to donate is because the Women's Environmental Network is actually a very good cause. They are dedicated to working for two causes very close to my heart; women's issues and the environment. They are the paradigm of effecting global change through local work, by focusing on community projects and education. It's all very empowering and supportive and sustainable and generally rad. Help me give them cash moneys.
