Story
For every £2 you donate Book Aid International will be able to send a book to one of the World's poorest communities.
This October 2014 I plan to start walking from Tarifa in Spain, the southernmost point of Western Europe, to Nordkapp in Norway, the northernmost point. I will be using the European long distance path network as I trudge from South to North through Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
Firstly, I aim to raise money and awareness for Book Aid International. They provide books and libraries in sub-saharan Africa and Palestine in order to raise literacy levels, provide information and underpin development. I think reading and access to reading is something we take for granted in Europe and I think it's an excellent cause to support.http://www.BookAid.org
Secondly, I aim to create a 'Walking Residency', an open invite for anyone to join me over the 12 months I plan to walk for. I think walking is the only way we can truly understand our surroundings, and through this appreciation is where we can find ideas. The invitation is there for anyone seeking these ideas, creatively or otherwise.
So I need all you good and graceful people to donate some money or time to support this grand adventure. There's no way I can undertake this without the support of many people pulling together, and in doing so we could really create something special. We can directly help thousands of children, young people and refugees, by providing high quality reading material and resources to people who would otherwise not have them.
“Without the books we receive from Book Aid International many of these children will not see or read a book in their childhood.”
