We've all joined together to raise money for CLIC sargent, in memory of Allister Boyd. 

Who Are We, and What Is The Allister Boyd Legacy Group?

We are a group of students at Glasgow Caledonian University who aim to carry on the legacy of Allister Boyd and raise money for this phenomenally important cause. Allister is a former student of the University who in 2008 at just 19 years, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour after successfully battling cancer since 2005. The devastating diagnosis made Allister determined to leave his mark on the world and more than anything he wanted to help other teenagers by easing their fears of serious illness and educate them about how to best deal with it. He was determined to raise money to create a unit at Yorkhill hospital where teenagers could be treated seperately and through many, many events - ranging from a party for over 200 people which raised over £50,000 to an all day fun day in his home village of Stair raising a further £10'000 - Allister raised a vast amount of the £350,000 needed for the unit at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children. Allister Boyd is truely an inspiration to us all, and because of this we would like to continue the amazing work he has done.

Who are CLIC Sargent UK?

They are the UKs largest childrens charity and they provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help children and their families cope with cancer and get the most out of life. Their vision is to see a world where all children and young people with cancer live life to the full and I believe this is a cause which deserves immense support.

How Will We Fundraise?

As a group we will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in June next Summer. Not only is Mount Kilimanjaro the highest peak on the African continent; it is also the tallest free-standing mountain in the world! Rising in isolation from the surrounding coastal scrubland to 19,336 feet! This will be a massive challenege however we whole heartedly believe that the hard work and training we are undertaking is absolutely worth it in order to assist this charity in achieving its goal!

You name it, we are most likely doing it! From running marathons to ceilidh throwing and everything inbetween! We will constantly be updating our team page with news of new events we are organising!
