Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In May this year it will be 10 years since one of our dearest friends died at the very young age of 21.

My close friends and I have decided that we want to give something ‘back’ and have decided to raise some money for charity. He was treated at Frimley Park Hospital, prior to his death and some years earlier he was also involved in a serious car accident, where again, he was treated at the same Hospital. We have spoken to the Hospital and they have provided details of the two items of equipment that they urgently require and would like us to raise money for; one for the Children’s Ward and one for the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit. The actual charity is Frimley Park Hospital Charitable Fund and their Registered Charity Number is1049600.

For the children’s ward they would like to purchase an Infant Optiflow System. This is a system that delivers a high flow of oxygen to babies and very young children who are suffering from breathing difficulties (pneumonia / severe asthma etc.) The cost of the Optiflow System is £2,475.00.

The Stroke Rehab unit would very much like a computer on wheels (which they have given the lovely acronym of a “COW”). It means they can bring all the investigations that get done to the bedside of each patient and show all their CT / MRI /X-rays directly to the patients and their relatives if needed. It helps the patients to understand in a visual manner that they have had a stroke (i.e. blood clot or bleed in the brain). The cost of the COW equipment is £3,800.00.

The amount of money required is huge, but we are determined to meet their goals and provide the much needed equipment.

On the 18th May 2013 we are going to be holding several fund raising events. Our friend ‘Bozzie’ was a keen footballer, who played both Saturday and Sunday football locally, so we thought what better way to start the day than a football match between the two teams. We would charge a small entrance fee for the match, with refreshments being provided and all profits going towards the target set. The day will then progress with a fun day, with face painting, cake stalls, sports day etc and then continue with a disco and live band in the evening in one of the local public houses.

Bozzie was very popular in our local area and the interest in this event is expected to be great, which will all help towards meeting the target. There is going to be local press coverage too, which should obviously help with both promoting the event and helping with reaching our target.

We are going to be holding a raffle and charity auction and are looking for donations of prizes for either. The more prizes we get and the better prizes we receive, will generate better sales for both of these. We are writing to you in the hope that you will be able to help us with this?We appreciate that economy isn’t fantastic at the moment, but any help for this great cause would be very much appreciated. More valuable prizes will obviously be placed in to the auction with other prizes being used in the raffle. It really is ‘every little helps’ and all prizes are welcome, from bottles of wine, to chocolates, to hair cuts, to boilers services.

If you are in a position where you can perhaps provide a more valuable prize i.e. a Laptop, a TV, an iPad etc then this would really help us in reaching our goal. We will try to ensure that everyone who donates will get a mention in the local press, so people are aware of your generosity.

Once again, this really is a great cause for some much needed equipment and your help would be very much appreciated.
