Shortly after Mothers Day I signed up to The Hackney Half Marathon and discovered that St Joseph's Hospice are one of the local charities that have a team running and I wanted to help for a number of reasons...

• My good friend, Greg Bookman, has supported the hospice over the years to thank them for all the help and support that they gave to his amazing Mum, Mim, who passed away on 30th May 2002. I remember Mim well and like my mum, and a few others, would stand on the side lines every Sunday morning, taking it in turns to cut up oranges every week. Home or away, wind or rain, it didnt matter they were always there. So first and foremost this money is to help the hospice continue to care for people affected by serious illness and to improve the quality of their life until the very end. 

• Its important to support 'local', whether its a charity, helping the community, volunteering or simply shopping. We often support causes far and wide but don't take the time to get involved in our own local communities. So this is also to help 'local charities' in the best part of London #Hackney.           

• Finally, to say a big massive thank you to all the amazing mums out there in everything that they do - EVERY DAY. We don't say thank you enough, so aside from Birthdays and Mothers Day remember to say thank you for all the oranges on a Sunday morning ;) x
