Story
Good Evening LinkedIn and fellow friends.
If you have a spare few minutes to read this post and help me raise some money for a great cause I would be most grateful.
What is going on?
After months of problems with my health, problems breathing, constant chest pains and dozens of trips to my GP I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure (Cardiomyopathy) in September 2015.
Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle where the heart can no longer function effectively and in turn cannot pump blood around the body like it should.
Until this point I considered myself very active and attended the gym 5 days per week and ate fairly good, I was very active lively person, since September my life has totally changed, I have been told that I can no longer lift any heavy weights, my diet needs to be balanced, clean and healthy and I must at all costs avoid any signs of stress as this condition put me at the risk of a sudden heart attack or worse, words cant explain the rut this put me into and the knock on effect it had in all aspects of my life.
Roll forward to December 2015 and I am now on great medication which for now has this condition under control and hopefully can manage the condition for the foreseeable future if I make some lifestyle changes, things are still hard but I refuse to let it beat me.
My problem is that I have gained over 2 stone of weight since diagnosis, I have now have no fitness endurance and even a simple walk will put me out of breath, I have been advised by my GP that I need to try and build my heart stronger and the best way to do this is exercise (not weights), the idea of spending day after day on a treadmill is not much fun so I need another challenge.
I have decided the best way to do this is to set myself a goal, I have signed up for the UWCB Boxing Tournament in Aberdeen in March 2016.
Ultra White Collar Boxing is an opportunity for people with no boxing background to experience the world of boxing, raise money for Cancer Research UK and get in shape.
In February I will start 8 weeks of intensive training 5
times per week, I know this will be extremely difficult with my condition but with the help of close monitoring from my GP and medication I can hopefully get my life back on track and fight this condition I am faced with and again be fit and healthy.
This is a huge challenge but mentally and physically I can and will do it, to make sure of this I am going to be raising money for the UWCB charity of choice which is cancer research UK.
I have always been a great advocate of trying to raise money for charity and every little helps.
Any donations to this cause are gratefully appreciated.
Best Regards
Bradley
