Brainwave is a charity that helps children with disabilities to achieve greater independence. Aiming to improve mobility, communication skills, and learning potential, through a range of specialist therapies.

Story

In memory of Nick Clay, we (Chris,Graham,Sally and Jo) are attempting the Liverpool half marathon to raise money for the Brainwave Charity.

Brainwave aids children with dozens of different conditions, the most common of which are Down’s syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Autism.  The charity is run from 3 centres across the country: Somerset, Essex and Birchwood (Warrington).

These Centres have proven to be a beacon of hope for many families of children who have suffered a brain injury.  When a child attends Brainwave, they, and their parents, spend a whole two days at one of our Centres. Here they are assessed by the dedicated team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Educational Therapists, among many other professionals, who focus on what the child can do, not what they can’t. Together, they work with the family to devise a unique Programme, specifically designed to suit that child’s needs, which will help and encourage them to unlock the child’s potential.

This year Brainwave is celebrating its 30 Birthday. In aid of this Chris, Graham, Sally and Jo have decided to run the Liverpool ½ Marathon to raise money for the charity.

More information can be found on the website at www.brainwave.org.uk or listen to our patron Olly Murs to hear what they do at  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6pRTjylTFk
