On the 23rd April 2023 team Breast Foot Forward (10 girls, friends for life) will be taking part in the London Virtual Marathon by walking 26 miles around the canals of the West Midlands to raise money for the Breast Cancer St Agatha's Trust Fund which comes under the umbrella of the Dudley Group of Hospitals Charitable Trust.

The charity we are fundraising for has been chosen by our dear friend Kirsty. Kirsty is currently receiving treatment for breast cancer for the second time. She is an inspiration to us all with her fight and determination and positive outlook. Kirsty chose St Agatha's to support local men and women who are going through the same as her.

The St Agatha's Trust Fund was developed in order to channel the donations received in Dudley into the local breast cancer service. Without this charity the treatment for the patients would be quite a different experience. The charity helps make the environment as comfortable as it can be under the difficult circumstances that patients find themselves in. This has included: -

•Head cooler – for chemotherapy patients wishing to prevent hair loss
•Nipple tattoo machine to enable them to tattoo nipples and areolar for breast reconstruction patients
•Training for a second breast care nurse to tattoo (micro dermal pigmentation)
•Production of a video for deaf patients to demonstrate breast awareness with signers
•Furniture for the counselling room
•Specialist biopsy equipment
• Purchase of equipment to assess lymphoedema
• Specialist couch to provide additional comfort for patients requiring a specific biopsy procedure
•Training courses for health professionals
• Funding for make-up training session for patients to ‘feel more like themselves’ - Kirsty’s moto is “if you look good you feel better!”

We would appreciate any donations, however small, for this very worthy cause. We will keep you posted on our progress as we prepare to complete the marathon and our journey on the day.
