Jay's AIM is set up to inform young people about the risks and prevention of sudden cardiac death in the young and active within South West England. AIM is an acronym for the 3 areas of our charities work: Assess, Inform and Make a difference. To find out more go to www.jaysaim.co.uk

Story

The Brewin Dolphin offices in the South West (Exeter, Plymouth and Truro) select a local charity to support every year.  This year we have selected Jay's AIM.

Jay was a brother, son, friend, fiancé and a father who died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of just 28.  After his death, it was learnt that Jay had an undiagnosed inherited heart condition, and that this had caused a fatal cardiac arrest.  James worked with us at Brewin Dolphin for a number of years and we all miss him dearly.

Jay's AIM was established by James' family in 2018 with the target of reducing the rate of sudden cardiac death among young people here in South-West England.  The British Heart Foundation estimates that 12 people below the age of 35 die every week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions, many of them with no prior symptoms.  Since 2018 Jay's AIM have been on a mission to reduce this number; with the help of generous supporters, they're making a big difference.
