We care for ex-Service personnel to give them back their independence

Story

As most of you will know, I did one of my last military jumps in 1956 in Suez, and five years ago I did my first fundraising skydive for Care for Veterans. Now, in my 85th year, I thought it was time I did another!

So on August 6th I will be jumping from 14,000 ft in support of this incredible charity that provides the very best care and rehabilitation for our disabled veterans.

Care for Veterans receives no regular government funding, so each year they need to raise over £1.5 million to enable them to continue their first class and award-winning care.

Originally established in 1919 to care for those soldiers returning from World War I with life-changing disabilities, for over 100 years Care for Veterans has provided long term nursing care, rehabilitation, respite and award-winning end-of-life care to disabled ex-armed forces personnel.

With residents currently ranging in age from 34-102 years old, they adopt a multi-disciplinary approach towards the care and rehabilitation of residents, which includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and neuropsychology, as well as social and recreational activities and a chaplaincy service – all delivered from their facilities in Worthing, West Sussex.

So any donation, large or small, that you can give would be very much appreciated, not just by myself, but by all the veterans and staff at Care for Veterans.
