We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year, Prostate Cancer UK is aiming to recruit 350 riders to raise over £400,000 to help beat prostate cancer and my friend and long time riding companion Steve Carter and I have been recruited.

The ride takes place on Saturday 29th June 2019 in Brussels, Belgium exactly one week before 200 of the worlds top cyclists take it on as stage 1 of the 2019 Tour De France. It is 125 miles from start to finish which will be the furthest that both Steve and I have ridden in one event. At about the 40 mile point we will come across another challenge which is a steep climb with an average of over 9% and a maximum of 20% so in our minds this is the biggest part of the challenge so we will be focusing our training on finding and conquering steep climbs.

PLEASE help me to raise as much as possible for this very worthwhile cause, any donation of any amount will be very much appreciated just give what you can.

Some details about Prostate Cancer.

One in eight men in the UK will get prostate cancer although it mainly affects men over 50, and the risk increases as men get older. The average age for men to be diagnosed with prostate cancer is between 65 and 69 years. If you are under 50, your risk of getting prostate cancer is very low. Men under 50 can get it, but it isn’t common.

The Prostate Cancer Charity were the first national organisation for prostate cancer in the UK. Their aim was to improve the care and welfare of those affected by prostate cancer, increase investment in research, and raise public and political awareness of a long-neglected disease.

The Prostate Cancer Charity merged with Prostate Action in 2012 and completely re-branded to form Prostate Cancer UK. In the last 20 years, Prostate Cancer UK has invested over £37 million into ground breaking research, and continue to provide award-winning support for men.
