It is now seven years since my great niece, Florence , was diagnosed and
treated for cancer before receiving a bone marrow transplant from her
younger sister Edie in 2005.
 
During that period CLIC Sargent enabled our family to spend precious time
together while Flo was undergoing treatment staying in one of the houses
they own and maintain near specialist hospitals.  Many families have to
travel hundreds of miles to receive treatment often over several years which
can put an enormous extra strain on families particularly where there are
siblings.
 
We have been tremendously fortunate that Flo currently enjoys good health
and a normal life.  Others have not been so lucky and I 
decided that I would very much like to run theBath Half Marathon in this my
55th year to raise money for CLIC Sargent so that they may continue to
provide for other families the practical and emotional support that our
family received throughout those very difficult years.
