Story

The British Museum Friends are delighted to announce that our target for the Members’ Appeal 2016 has now been reached and the Department of Conservation and Scientific Research are in the process of acquiring the digital microscope. Any further donations are welcome and will be directed towards similar projects within the Museum.

This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology will be a remarkable addition to the department and will help us learn more about previously un-scannable large or delicate objects. It can be used on materials of all kinds, and used in conjunction with existing specialist microscopes, it will super-charge the Scientific Research Department’s analytical capability.

We look forward to telling you more about how the microscope is used in the future.
