Story
Hello!
On the 14th of September I will be running the Sure Run To The Beat 10k in aid of Gaddesden Place Riding for the Disabled centre in Hemel Hempstead.
As some of you may know, I first volunteered with Gaddesden Place 13 years ago and it is a charity very close to my heart. The centre provides over 100 children and adults with special needs and disabilities the opportunity to ride and have fun. Lessons run Tuesday to Saturday, and with only two paid members of staff, it relies entirely on its volunteers.
The centre also receives no regular government funding. There is a modest charge for lessons but this does not cover the costs of roughly £60,000 a year, and so money raised through fundraising is incredibly important. £500 could buy 100 bales of hay, or provide for new shoes for 2 ponies for a year.
As many of you will know, I am not a natural born runner as I am basically the human version of Chester [see photo]; we were both somewhat shortchanged in the leg department!! However, I will try my very best to push myself in order to raise as much as I can for this fantastic cause. I will keep you updated on my progress!
Thank you so much in advance.
Brooke xx
