Footsteps Foundation improves the quality of life for children and young adults with neuro-motor disorders. We provide them with access to a unique programme of intensive physiotherapy at the Footsteps Centre, enabling them to reach their full potential whilst gaining confidence and independence.

Story

Footsteps therapy is innovative and unique to the UK. It combines traditional methods of therapy with a specialist piece of equipment that originates from Poland.

The ‘Spider’ is a simple metal frame, with elastics and harnesses that supports and cocoons the child in a ‘Spider’s web’ giving freedom and allowing them to maintain positions that would normally not be able to achieve. The Spider is central to Footsteps therapy and their therapists carry out a full range of exercises which improves muscle tone, coordination and core strength. Therapists measure the results and children have achieved many advances in general mobility, standing, walking and fine and gross motor skills through Footsteps therapy, often significantly exceeding medical expectations
