Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This July I will cycle 775 miles between the cities of Inverness in Scotland and Augsburg, Germany. These two cities are twinned and to my knowledge nobody has ridden solo between the two.
My mother in law is an Augsburger and after noticing the city was twinned with Inverness the idea came about to ride between the two. Since then the Mayor’s office in Augsburg and Provost office in Inverness have offered support. The Deputy Provost of Inverness will meet me on my departure to hand me greetings for the Deputy Mayor of Augsburg. On my arrival a welcome party has been arranged at the Bavarian city. Further to this the local newspaper has offered their support.
I have chosen two charities to support to symbolise the bond between the cities. Each offers support to their community in a different way to the other. I will look to split any money raised equally.
For Inverness I have selected the Dundonnell Mountain Rescue team. Friends and family regularly enjoy the Scottish outdoors. Thanks to the selfless volunteers at the mountain rescue we can have additional support in the case of emergency. You can donate to Dundonnell Mountain Rescue team on this page.
On the Augsburg end I have selected a charity called Kartei der Not Augsburg. This looks to help and support the people of the city who have fallen on hard times. They offer support to emergency cases of illness, disability, accident or other circumstances that they are not responsible for. Unfortunately JustGiving do not directly support German charities at the moment. But they have a crowdfunding link. To donate to Kartei der Not Augsburg please go to my charity donation site at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/bruce-morris
