Story
Chloe`s Chemoo Cows was created in September 2011 in memory of Chloe Alexandra McNeil. Chloe had just turned 11 when she was diagnosed with a Diffuse Pontine Glioma - a tumor in her brain stem. Chloe was an only child and a typical girlie girl. Having returned from a family holiday Chloe fell ill. Over a period of just a few weeks she became very sick, suffering from dizziness, double vision, headaches and vomitting most mornings. After several visits to her GP, Chloe was referred to Crosshouse hospital for further investigations.
6 weeks after their dream holiday an MRI scan detected the brain tumor, a brain tumor which was inoperable. Chloe was unaware of the diagnosis and this was the start of ensuring Chloe lived her life to the full. And this she did, starting primary 7 at Annick primary school in Irvine and attending as regularly as she could to designing a cupcake print t-shirt which was produced and sold by New Look raising thousands for Make a Wish.
The day after returning from a family holiday to York Chloe became very unwell and that night had her first seizure, after a series of seizures a further MRI scan revealed 4 new tumors, again inoperable.
3 weeks later on the 16th of June 2011 Chloe slipped away. Chloe died in her parents Mark and Elaines arms surrounded by her close family.
One of the first things Chloes Chemoo Cows does is to provide all children receiving chemotherapy with their own Chemoo Cow gift box containing a soft toy cow, bookmark, sticker & certificate. They then liaise with the staff to buy much needed activities, crafts, toys,DVDs and other items for the children. Huge parcels of crafts & activities are delivered to the ward 3 times a year as well as additional deliveries with other gifts at special times including christmas and easter.
