Virgin London Marathon 2013 · 21 April 2013 ·
In April 2013 we will be taking on the mammoth challenge of running the London marathon. This was not a decision taken lightly but is something that we both really want to do in order to support a charity that is close to our hearts and that we have been supporting for some years now – Richard House Children’s Hospice.
The care provided by Richard House is funded by generous donations and fundraising activities. Every little really does count and our target of £3600 may seem ambitious but will go towards vital care such as:
Day and Night Care
£525 will provide a day’s care for a child at Richard House. Many of the children require care 24 hours a day. For the children and families a day at Richard House means they can relax and enjoy their precious time together in a caring supportive environment. With assistance of a one to one nurse or play and care worker the child’s visit focuses on care but also on play. During their stay at the hospice children are able to participate in a variety of activities and guide the type of play they participate in.
Respite and Palliative Care
£2,905 would fund a Respite and Palliative Care Nurse for 1 month. A Respite and Palliative Care Nurse provides care and clinical support delivered on a tailored basis to the special needs of the individual child and develops relationships with the child and their family. The nurse’s work requires flexibility, creativity, empathy and extraordinary responsibility – Richard House nurses are specialists who meet the children’s holistic needs.
We really do appreciate any donations no matter how big or small to help us reach our goal. Please help us support this fantastic charity. http://richardhouse.org.uk/
