CBE Bristol 24 Hour Wodathon · 9 November 2019
Lee's story: My nephew Max was a typical 3 year old, full of energy, funny, happy and healthy.
One day he became ill with a neck swelling and high temperature and despite being taken to the doctors several times, was not diagnosed with an infection. He died very suddenly from sepsis.
SEPSIS:
Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection andhappens when the body’s immune system overreacts and starts damaging its own tissues and organs. It is sometimes called septicaemia and blood poisoning.
Awareness of the symptoms of sepsis is improving all the time but thousands of people are still dying each year. If caught early enough, sepsis can often be treated successfully.
To help raise awareness of the symptoms of sepsis, a group from CrossFit BS East are undertaking a huge challenge.
We will be performing a different CrossFit WOD (workout of the day) every hour for 24 hours from 9-10 November.
This will be a mammoth challenge, especially as we are finishing
with the tough hero WOD ‘Murph’ to mark remembrance Sunday (CrossFit Gyms/Boxes often perform a hero workout to commemorate this day).
THE MURPH WOD:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run
Hundreds of exercises will be performed during the 24 hour challenge, from deadlifts to rope climbs. All against the clock and trying to complete as many reps as possible or finish a prescribed set of reps as quickly as possible.
Performing a WOD on the hour, every hour for 24 hours is going
to be a massive challenge, so please help us to keep motivated by sponsoring us!
