Story
Cancer will or does affect the majority of us in some way at some point in our lives.
It does not discriminate and it can affect any of those that we love.
It has affected my family more than once in my life; taking the lives of grandparents and even my much loved cat Micky.
My Dad, Paul is battling the disease for a second time. Having already beaten skin cancer he was diagnosed with blood cancer (the early stages of leukaemia) in April of this year.
My Dad is suffering from a rare type effecting just 3/4% of all blood cancer patients.
Thankfully these drugs are available on the NHS, if they weren’t we would not be able to afford the medication. I mention this as the NHS is often taken for granted. The NHS is an incredible organisation, we are lucky to have such a service.
Cancer is as much a battle of the mind, as it is the body affecting not just those suffering from the condition but the families, carers and medical professionals who all help fight, in the war against it.
Anything that you can afford to donate will be handed to Cancer Research UK to help fund research & treatments.
The impact of your donations will be remembered long after the race is over and will help save lives.
I will strive to complete this run in the fastest time I can & I hope to do it in less than 50 minutes.
Thanks for your time
