Story
On the 23rd of April I will be taking part in the London Marathon to raise money for Radio Marsden.
Radio Marsden was formed in 1969 and is run purely by volunteers. It is a completely self-funded organisation which broadcasts to patients, families, friends and staff at both branches of The Royal Marsden Hospital- at Sutton, Surrey and Chelsea.
Unfortunately too many lives are touched by cancer and with The Royal Marsden being a specialist centre for treatment, patients can sometimes have long periods in hospital. This is where Radio Marsden's terrific work comes into force- they are a friendly face and the volunteers spend time with patients each day and get to know them. In addition to this each evening the volunteers broadcast a programme featuring patients' musical choices in the station's flagship event- "The Request Show" between 8 and 10pm. The station is also streamed online to enable friends and family to enjoy all the patients' requests with them. The station is available 24 hours a day via radiomarsden.co.uk.
Hearing a favourite song or having a shout out on radio can really lift a patients mood especially in such difficult times. Any donation you can give would be greatly appreciated to allow Radio Marsden to continue the EXCELLENT work they do.
