We Campaign for safer roads to Save the lives of our children

Story

We are a group of friends and Cambridge Judge Business School Executive MBA alumni (2019 cohort). This October, we will be running the Cambridge half-marathon. We aim to raise £5,000 to support the exceptional work undertaken by our classmate, Chris Thorold, and his wife Rachel through their recently established charity focused on improving road safety for children.

Earlier this year, the Thorolds were struck by tragedy when a van veered off the road, directly hitting Rachael and five month old Louis in his pram. Tragically, Louis lost his life and Rachael continues her long road to recovery. The mission of the Louis Thorold Foundation is to prevent deaths of children on Britain’s roads. Only six months since it was founded, the charity has already made important progress by convincing the Cambridgeshire County Council to reduce the speed limit on the A10 - a road where many have lost their lives
in the past 20 years.

The Louis Thorold Foundation is setup in loving memory of Louis Thorold who died on 22nd January 2021 at just 5 months old whilst his mother Rachael pushed his pram along a pavement. In Britain 40 children are killed as pedestrians on Britain's roads a number which we believe is too many.
