Support our CLR James documentary project

WORLDwrite · 13 May 2014
We are currently in the midst of shooting interviews for our film on CLR James' life and ideas with a number of key scholars of James and those that knew him. We have been filming at an assortment of locations with links to James and the themes of his work: the British Library, The London, Sugar & Slavery Gallery at the Museum of London Docklands and Lord's Cricket Ground. Next month we will be visiting the town of Nelson in Lancashire where James lived in the early 1930s, as well as the People's History Museum in Manchester.
However, WORLDwrite volunteers need your support to continue filming the fully fledged feature documentary they have spent two years researching. Entitled “Every Cook Can Govern” the film aims to do justice to a lesser known hero and to share an understanding of his historical importance with a younger generation.
To tell James' whole life story we need to film in Trinidad, the USA, Ghana and elsewhere. We also want to use the highest quality and best available archive material. But none of this will be cheap and we urgently need your support to make this possible. We'd be thrilled if you could make a donation and if you'd like to feature in the credits as a sponsor we can do that too!
