Story
We are taking part in the Arctic to Antarctic challenge for the Capsicum Re Foundation, where we are going to join our Capsicum Re colleagues and walk / cycle / row / run / crawl / stumble 20,000 km (the distance from the Arctic to the Antarctic) over the month of July 2020 in order to support the work of Little Havens Children's Hospice (Registered Charity No 1022119).
Fair Havens Hospice in Westcliff opened its doors on 13th June 1983 and has since cared for over 25,000 adults across Southend, Castle Point and Rochford, as well as their families
At the 10th anniversary of Fair Havens the need for a children’s hospice was discussed which lead to the launch of the Little Havens project. In 1995 the site in Thundersley was purchased and in 1998 Little Havens Hospice opened and began caring for children from across Essex and surrounding London boroughs.
The Little Havens Children’s Hospice are an incredible charity who provide outstanding care for children and young people up to the age of 19 who have been diagnosed with a complex or incurable condition. They offer overnight respite breaks, emergency stays, symptom management and care at the end of a child’s life.
There are also ‘Day Stay’ sessions and the opportunity to attend specific groups and activities relevant to the child’s needs such as;
- Sensory Storytime sessions with the STEMS Team
- Complementary and creative therapies
- Support and therapeutic groups for adults and children
Little Havens do not charge a penny for their care. All contributions means they can continue 'Making every day count' for every child who needs them.
