Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 08 January, my son Sam Shine was badly injured playing rugby for Chess Valley RFC U16s and broke his neck. This was followed just two days later by a similar injury to John Gray, a fellow player of mine and Chess Valley legend, during a training accident.

Although their rugby playing days are now over, thankfully both Sam & John should eventually make full recoveries. This is due in no small part to the fantastic treatment and care they have received at Stanmore Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. John is now back home with his family and Sam hopes to be discharged in the near future.

With this in mind, Chess Valley RFC will be holding a fundraising event on Saturday 11th February from 1.00 pm onwards at Rickmansworth Sports Club, Park Road Rickmansworth WD3 1HU. On the day a veterans/old boys match will kick-off at 2.00 pm against Welwyn RFC Vets/5ths and a post-match auction & raffle will then be held, with all proceeds going to Stanmore RNOH. Following this, Six Nations rugby will then be shown in the bar where at the same time festivities will continue in the way only a true rugby club knows how!

So bring yourselves, your bulging wallets and your good cheer and let's make the day one to really remember whilst hopefully raising a significant amount of money for this fabulous cause. Thanks :)

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
