We research and raise awareness of Trisomy to support families

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

William was the best thing that has ever happened to me and my boyfriend. How lucky we feel to have loved someone we never got to meet.

William was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 meaning he had 3 copies of chromosome number 18 instead of 2. This affects the way the baby grows and develops. We felt helpless and lost as you can imagine, and we stumbled across this organisation called soft, who I listened to numerous podcasts about parents in similar situations, and there knowledge and support really helped me on my darkest of days.

Each year 35,000 parents are told their unborn baby may have an abnormality. Soft provides information about antenatal testing and supports parents and their families when an abnormality is discovered in their much wanted baby. Soft is a lifeline for expectant and bereaved parents.

We would like to raise money for Soft who were able to offer us support throughout, and to help them continue to do the fantastic work in helping parents in similar situations. Anything you can donate we will all be extremely grateful for. Thank you so much.

SOFT UK was founded in 1990 by Christine Rose and Jenny Robbins. As mothers, they were unfortunate enough to discover first-hand the lack of support and information available to families affected by Patau’s syndrome (Trisomy 13), Edwards’ syndrome (Trisomy 18) and related disorders.
