Story

Hello and welcome to our page.

As you can see, we are running the Hackney Half Marathon this year for Samaritans. Not only that, but we have decided to do it with weighted jackets, making this a challenge neither of us have yet attempted.

Why make it more difficult for yourselves? Good question! Well, primarily we hope that it will encourage more of you to donate to such a great cause, however it is also symbolic of the weight on the shoulders of many many men out there who are dealing with their issues, without communicating it...locking it up internally instead of speaking about it, and seeking help. This in turn has led to 3 in 4 suicides in the UK to be male.. Out of 100,000 men, 19.2 men aged between 25-44 will end up killing themselves.

Therefore we will be running 21km with a combined additional weight of 21kg, which will be a fraction of the pain others must be going through to decide to end their lives.

We hope that you can dig into your pockets for a great cause

It also goes without saying that you can always find a cup of tea and a shoulder to cry on at our flat if you are in need of it. The tea cupboard and whiskey cabinet are always well stocked, and Tony's large frame provides a great hug.
