At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hi everyone! Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

When I was a teenager I lost my wonderful, vibrant and vivacious Grandma to dementia and I wanted to raise money to help other people and families that suffer from the horrible and devastating disease of dementia and Alzheimers.

With 26 miles of altitude trekking it is no mean feat - Machu Picchu is named as a New Wonder of the World and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Doing the Inca Trail trek has been on our bucket list for years, which is why it is forming part of our honeymoon (we got married last August). The honeymoon has been paid for in full, so unlike other pages, this is not fundraising for us to go - but just to sponsor us doing this trek to raise money for a really important cause. All monies raised will go direct to the charity.

I really hope that you will be able to support Joel and I in this challenge (I jogged 3 minutes the other day and nearly collapsed so this is particularly daunting for me and I am definitely not a camper!) - so please inspire me with your support and generosity. Anything you can spare would be gratefully appreciated - we need to help raise awareness as well as supporting the valuable research that the Alzeimers Society do. Plus I'll post some funny pictures of me struggling on the trail for your continued amusement.

Thank you.

Camilla & Joel.
