Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Lily, who is a very special girl who attends our Nursery School, was sadly diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in November 2013. After developing pneumonia, she spent three very fragile weeks in the Paediatric High Dependency Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Since then she has been receiving on-going, intensive treatment, during which time she has demonstrated strength and determination throughout.
The doctors and nurses were wonderful in both their treatment of Lily as well as their caring nature towards her and her family, helping them enormously both practically and emotionally through a very challenging time. Their care of Lily at her most vulnerable was hugely instrumental in her recovery, saving her life on a number of occasions.
Each of us have various levels of fitness, although none of us are runners. We have set ourselves this challenge of running/jogging 13.1 miles with the ambition of raising both awareness and funds for the Paediatric High Dependency Unit. In doing so, this will help the unit to continue providing the essential level of care and support for other children and their families finding themselves in a similar situation as Lily.
Thank you for reading our story and wish us luck. We really appreciate your support.
