Story
For the past 2 years I've talked Iron Man without doing anything about it. So 9 months ago I decided to take the proverbial plunge and signed up for Ironman Henley!!!
For those of you who don't know - Ironman is a long distance triathlon:
2.4 miles open water swim
112 mile cycle
26.2 mile run/crawl!!
I liken it to a pregnancy... always tired, dietary restrictions, no alcohol (with exceptions), limited caffeine, early mornings, poor sleep. It goes further than this though - if you've been pregnent you will realise that thats all pregnent people talk about - I have done the same with Ironman - training, questioning myself etc. So 9 months later - you go through an increadible journey - 16 hours of pushing and pulling, pain and suffering, analgesia, bloods, sweat and tears - and at the end of it you have....a medal.
I have decided to try and raise some money for prostate cancer as it is something that has affected both me and lou's lives. My Grandad died when I was still at school with prostate cancer and Lou's Grandad also died with prostate cancer. More recently though she lost her step dad Pete who played a large role in both our lives.
I think they would all be very proud of what I am trying to achive.
I would be grateful of your donations big or small!!!
