Last weekend I set off to bonnie Scotland to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon. It was admittedly the least prepared I'd ever been for a marathon so I decided to don a cape and hoped that I'd get some super powers from somewhere to help me trot round.

The weather was ridiculously hot for Scotland and many didn't make the distance. My cape stopped working around 20 miles but I still managed to get round in 4hr 48. As I predicted, it was one of my slowest marathons but I loved every single minute of it.

For all of you that know me well, I am a trainee teacher who has spent the last few years of my life working my socks off to prepare myself for the start of my new profession

This summer, my family and I are going to offer practical support to a school in Ghana so I have therefore chosen to support a charity that provides support for children aged 7-16 that are underachieving for lots of different reasons right here in the UK.

SHINE is a small charity and would welcome any financial support to help children in areas such as London & Manchester. I have seen first hand many disaffected and disengaged children and realise that additional support is desperately needed for many of these kids.
